Dolphinseas143 Posted July 9, 2015 #1 Share Posted July 9, 2015 Hey everyone!!! I have noticed on other cruises (on other cruise lines) that they have a place to go on board where you can book your next cruise through them with special offers or discounts. Is this true for RCCL? We were considering looking into this option when we sail Oasis in September. If this is true what type of deals do they have? Is it worth doing while on board or is it better to just wait until we get off the ship and book like we did for this cruise? Thank you as always for all of your continued help!!!:D
Clarea Posted July 9, 2015 #2 Share Posted July 9, 2015 (edited) It's better to book on board. Royal gives you on board credit based on the stateroom type and length of the new cruise booked: •5-7 night cruises ◦Interior/Oceanview: $50 ◦Balcony/Junior Suite: $100 ◦Grand Suite and above: $200 •8-10 night cruises ◦Interior/Oceanview: $100 ◦Balcony/Junior Suite: $150 ◦Grand Suite and above: $300 •11-14 night cruises ◦Interior/Oceanview: $150 ◦Balcony/Junior Suite: $200 ◦Grand Suite and above: $400 •15 nights or longer cruises ◦Interior/Oceanview: $200 ◦Balcony/Junior Suite: $250 ◦Grand Suite and above: $500 You also get reduced deposit in the amount of the OBC list above. Note that you can choose to take the OBC immediately, or on the future cruise. If you take the OBC immediately, then your deposit is non-refundable if you cancel the future cruise. Do you get any lower room prices by booking this way also or just the OBC and lower deposit? Also, do you have to choose the sailing date then or do you have a certain amount of time to choose the sailing in? Clarea Posted July 9, 2015 #4 Share Posted July 9, 2015 Ok great. Thanks! Do you get any lower room prices by booking this way also or just the OBC and lower deposit? No price breaks from booking on board, same prices as the website.
bertrande Posted July 9, 2015 #5 Share Posted July 9, 2015 Hmm that's interesting. We placed an open booking back in 2014 (paid a deposit of $100 each for two rooms) and recently converted one to a 5N Med Cruise onboard Harmony of the Seas next year. We will be in a suite but our TA checked with RCCL and reported back that the OBC we were entitled to was a paltry $25! What gives, I wonder? A little more than a year ago, Royal decimated the open booking OBC. I'm not even sure that the open booking is still offered.

For some time its been with an open booking you only received $25obc. If you had a specific ship and date the obc was higher but they penalized you if you changed ship or date. The new way is much easier because the dont penalize you if you change. You can change your sailing date or ship as much as you want and keep you obc. Like Bob said the deposit is the amount of the obc for the room. So 2 people on a 7 night cruise in a balcony only pay $100 total. Way better then the $
bertrande Posted July 9, 2015 #8 Share Posted July 9, 2015 Thanks Clarea and Whitshel for the explanation. We booked the two open bookings way back in Dec 2013 I believe. Looking forward to the new system.
