Rain protection for camera in Alaska

Recommended Posts

As I was researching my trip to Alaska in 2013 it was suggested to purchase some thing protect my camera from rain. I received many suggestions and bought the OPTech rain sleeves based on the compact size.

It turned out that I didn't need the product for our trip in 2013 because we had perfect weather. I actually opened the package and used it on this trip in ketchikan, AK. It was pouring rain when we docked. I put the rain sleeve on my camera before leaving the ship. I also used a lens hood with the rain sleeve for added protection. When I wasn't using the camera I placed it in my back pack.

Thanks again for the tip!

I've been very pleased with the OPTech rain sleeve.

A tip: Pack a rubber band or two to attach the sleeve to the lens hood. I find this works better than the provided cinch strap.
