While searching to rent a power chair for an upcoming cruise, I came across "Family Rentals and Guest Service". Their website says that they can deliver power scooters and power chairs to hotel or port-of-call including Port Everglades & Miami. I searched cc, but couldn't find any reviews.

Thank you and happy sailing,

Debbie

The reason you won't find information on CC regarding this rental company is that they are not approved to deliver the scooter or other rental equipment directly on board the ship to your cabin and pick up the scooter directly from your cabin. . Only the approved vendors for the cruise line you're traveling on are approved to do this. NCL only allows http://www.SpecialNeedsatSea.com. Most all other cruise lines allow both http://www.SpecialNeedsatSea.com and http://www.CareVacations.com.

If you choose to use Family Rentals and Guest Services you will have to make arrangements and be present on embarkation day to receive the scooter as well as wait with the scooter on debarkation day until the company comes to pick up the scooter directly outside the port. No one from the port nor the cruise line will accept receipt of the scooter (or any other equipment rented from this company) or wait with the scooter for it to be picked up. You're own your own in making certain it's been delivered and picked. Though the rental cost is probably cheaper it far more of a hassle.

I too will need a scooter for our next cruise. I just rented one in Las Vegas last week and it made my trip so much more enjoyable and less painful. That being said, I have decided to purchase my own rather than rent from Special Needs At Sea. My rental in Vegas for 7 days with insurance, taxes, pick up and delivery right to my hotel bellman was $96. total. I will not pay the exorbitant prices these monopolizing companies demand. I suppose Carnival gets their cut out of it too for their exclusivity. I found a gently used, less than one year old, with all new batteries for $599. 2 rentals for a cruise would cover that.
