hello fellow cruisers,

I have posted on the carnival site and been advised to post here.

can anyone help with info about cruising on the carnival spirit,

cheapest time to go in the later part of next year

better not to cruise in school holiday time

we will have our two grandies (8-9 )with us

are gratuities on drinks and room /s included

do they smoke on balconies

can we open partition between the side by side balconies

what is included in the standard fare (e.g pizza / ice cream / water etc etc

is there a better or worse side to avoid smoking

noisy cabins etc near rear mid level

all info will help.

I can answer some of them, I'm sure others will pop in with other info.

It might be worthwhile checking with the kids schools to see if you can take them out during term time (some schools are strict on this). This will dictate travel dates.

All gratuities are included in your fare so you don't 'need' to tip anyone. Some people like to give a tip to their room steward and dining room waiter at the end of the cruise, but that's totally up to you

There is no smoking on balconies. The smoking area is on the Lido deck on one side (can't remember if it's port or starboard though sorry).

What's included? Food/drink wise, it's probably easier to say that everything is included EXCEPT: alcohol, softdrinks (they have free cordial, tea, coffee and water all day), specialist coffees (such as a cappuccino from the café), the specialist restaurant, bar snacks and room service,

All of the entertainment is included, but you will need to pay for the spa services (massages etc), photographs, and the video/arcade games that the kids play (not sure if this includes all of them, I'm sure someone else here can give you more info on that).

The Spirit is being refurbished at the moment, and I'm not sure if some of the new things coming on board will be included in the fare or not but it sounds like they will.

Hi,

I can answer some of your queries,

yes the partition between balconies can be opened, but only after you our at sea ( so on first sea day).

The main dining room and lido deck are covered in your fare, but other dining options like sushi , fountain cafe, lolly shop, red frog pub and the steak house are extra.

We had a blast on the spirit and had a range of ages from 60's to teens and all enjoyed it, I am sure you will too.

We had balcony rooms mid ship on deck 7 and did not hear a thing.

Cheers maree

A THOUGHT

taking grandies without their parents I advise you get a letter of authorisation from their parents to take them OUT of Australia ? ? ? ?

Just explaining their acceptance of them going overseas with you - signed and witnessed
