robandlil Posted September 11, 2015 #1 Share Posted September 11, 2015 We'll be on LOS Asia cruise, HKG to Brisbane. I've done as much searching as I could, but still don't know these answers. Will RCI handle all Visas for visiting HKG, philipines, Malaysia, and Australia? Or should I be looking up what's needed and filling out applications? Are the pastries in the coffee shop on deck 5 free? If we buy the dining package that includes the sushi restaurant, do we still have to pay the ala carte prices for items we order? How many months before embarkation can we expect to see excursions and dining available for booking? As this is an 18 day cruise, are we still limited to 2 bottles of wine per stateroom? Can we bring soda or water aboard? Can anyone post pictures of the new menus? Will this be a 7 day rotation of menus? Would like to know the formal nights. I see that filet and lobster are offered nightly for an up charge, are they ever complimentary? Perhaps on formal nights? I hope someone currently or recently doing this cruise can help. It's an unusual itinerary, so hard to get answers. Thanks
Merion_Mom Posted September 11, 2015 #2 Share Posted September 11, 2015 I will answer just a few of your questions. In red. :) We'll be on LOS Asia cruise, HKG to Brisbane. I've done as much searching as I could, but still don't know these answers. Will RCI handle all Visas for visiting HKG, philipines, Malaysia, and Australia? Or should I be looking up what's needed and filling out applications? I absolutely do not know the answer to this. When I was on a cruise that included Brazil, we were COMPLETELY on our own to get the required visa. Different countries have different policies. Sorry not to be able to help here. Are the pastries in the coffee shop on deck 5 free? I think so. But I don't eat 'em, so I can't verify. If we buy the dining package that includes the sushi restaurant, do we still have to pay the ala carte prices for items we order? Yes, Izumi is a la carte pricing. How many months before embarkation can we expect to see excursions and dining available for booking? As this is an 18 day cruise, are we still limited to 2 bottles of wine per stateroom? Yes. Silly, isn't it? But we're not going to look a gift horse in the mouth, are we? (each of you can probably get away with two bottles. Just go through the security line separately, not together. ;) ) Can we bring soda or water aboard? Official policy says "no". "Everyone" does. Can anyone post pictures of the new menus? Will this be a 7 day rotation of menus? http://www.royalcaribbeanpresscenter.com/download-press-kit/7/ You will have new menus every night. Some items may repeat, but there will be 18 different menus. Would like to know the formal nights. I see that filet and lobster are offered nightly for an up charge, are they ever complimentary? Perhaps on formal nights? Not over there. No complimentary lobster. You will get beef tenderloin at least once, and prime rib probably more than once. I hope someone currently or recently doing this cruise can help. It's an unusual itinerary, so hard to get answers. Thanks
Sfr1959 Posted September 11, 2015 #3 Share Posted September 11, 2015 Hi Robanill We just got of Legend on a 10 day Asia cruise (Singapore, Thailand , Cambodia and Vietnam ) and 1. RCI take you passports and organise Visas for your ports of call each. They do it as a group so is about 90% cheaper then doing it yourself . But just go into cruise info for your ports of call. 2. Yes pastries are free at Coffee shop 3. Should be around 60 days I think, but we did all our own as you can organise before you go, or just grab a taxi or Tuk-tuk for a day tour, 4. Yes it's still 2 bottles, 5. No need, all the water onboard is great with fountain around the ship. 6. We went to Chop Grill one night and was really great, but the MDR has a 7 day menu, which feature a lot of what Chops has. You don't need to do specialist Resturants as the food in the MDR was a high standard with great choices. 8. You will find out the night before when formal nights are. 9. You will have Lobster a couple of night complimentary , and you can have as many as you like [emoji41], also there is steak on the menu every night from NY strip to Eye fillet. The food on Legend I think was one of the highlights of our cruise. Hope this helps , have an awesome cruise Cheers Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Sfr1959 Posted September 11, 2015 #5 Share Posted September 11, 2015 Yes we had it last sea night, was a really great treat as my wife was going to have it at an extra cost that night. Our Water Kalo just keep bring them out for those who wanted more, plus they had Baked Alaska for desert. Doesn't get much better then that [emoji322][emoji322][emoji322][emoji485][emoji485][emoji485] Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Thanks We are on Legend at the moment Singapore to Freemantle, Australian visa you must do online yourself I believe, or get your TA to do it for you as we did, it is just printed off on a piece of paper and kept in your passport. Hearing lots of conflicting stories about drink prices?? All I know at the moment is that all drink prices, bottles of wine and package prices are going to be increased from tomorrow when the next cruise starts and I only found this out last night from a friend we are sailing with who is currently on a drinks package. I am not sure what the new prices will be but if there are any specific drinks you would like me to enquire about, let me know and I will try and find out. We are having a great cruise and love the Legend.

Pencruise Posted September 12, 2015 #13 Share Posted September 12, 2015 Pencruise Hoping for photos of the MDR menus. Thank you I will try from tomorrow when we start the 14 day cruise - there is no point in posting menus from this five day cruise though as they are different than normal, more oriental themed dishes. Pencruise Posted September 12, 2015 #15 Share Posted September 12, 2015 Thanks for the reply. Glad youre enjoying the cruise. Been a lot of negative things written about the ship recently. Has had us a bit concerned. Well we have really enjoyed ourselves and so far been onboard 15 days (though had to get off for 3 days as ship was chartered). The crew have been fantastic and the ship has a nice homely atmosphere to it. Everyone makes you feel welcome. Shame we are missing you all at Satays, but will see you all onboard and probably at check in tomorrow, mustn't forget to take our passports ashore in the morning !! Bella99 Posted September 12, 2015 #16 Share Posted September 12, 2015 Hi there. Will be doing this itinerary November this year. This will be the first time so that is why you can't find much information about it. Drinks packages and optional tours have been online since about February. Dining packages much later - about June I think.

We lucked out with the drink package A$28 per day for the ultimate and also bought some OBC when it was at 1:

Clarea Posted September 14, 2015 #21 Share Posted September 14, 2015 Hi travelling on Legend in March next year - $28 a day drinks packages - how did that happen - they are so expensive at the moment? Welcome to Cruise Critic. I don't know any beverage packages that are $28 per day. Here is the latest list of beverage packages: http://media.royalcaribbean.com/content/shared_assets/pdf/menus/beverage_packages.pdf The prices listed are inclusive of gratuity. gaechann Posted September 14, 2015 #22 Share Posted September 14, 2015 (edited) Hi travelling on Legend in March next year - $28 a day drinks packages - how did that happen - they are so expensive at the moment? Those prices were available for some months for all re-positioning cruises between Asia / Australia maybe as an incentive to book the cruise! The Ultimate Drink Packages are now priced at around $90 pp/day just as other cruises are showing! We lucked out too! I got the Royal Replenish at just $11.25 per day figuring that my 3 free drinks per drink was sufficient alcohol intake. Dizziedi Posted September 14, 2015 #23 Share Posted September 14, 2015 Love the Legend. Because of Concierge/Diamond privileges we don't do the beverage packages but great ship - enjoy. Cheers Di
impatientlywaiting Posted September 14, 2015 #24 Share Posted September 14, 2015 The Legend is a beautiful ship and well taken care of. Jumping Castle Posted September 15, 2015 #25 Share Posted September 15, 2015 Thank you for the kind words about the Legend. I've been a little concerned as the reviews have been very unkind about it recently. It's good to hear that everyone has enjoyed their cruises on her. :):)
