Making Reservations for Chops Restaurant: RCL Web vs On-Board Ship?

We are sailing on the BOS doing a New England Cruise (Oct 15).

 

I tried to make an on-line reservation, using the RCL site, for 6:00PM in the Chops Restaurant and the only time available every night during the entire trip is 9:00PM; except for the last day of the cruise.

 

Are we out of luck or does RCL hold back some tables for guests making on-board reservations?

Some reservations are held back for on board booking. Go to the restaurant as soon as you board.

We booked on line and found out that they were indeed completely booked. Lot of people are prebooking !.
