Monarch OTS..will we be sorry?

We are Monarch fans, too. We boarded for our third cruise on her right after Rubrrick disembarked (actually 10 hours later because of the investigation of the accident). We think she's a grand old gal. She is in need of refurbishing because she takes a beating from the party crowd. The room furnishings are tacky even by cruise ship standards. But we had a ball anyway.

For the first time, we found the dining room food to be excellent. Rick said they have a new executive chef, and it showed. Beef was tender and cooked to order, pasta was al dente, desserts were very good. We ate breakfast there and the eggs were also cooked to order and hot dishes were piping hot. We have always found the dining room service to be excellent, but this time the food matched it.

Bolero's has a great Latin band and the Dueling Pianos, who are very funny. The show talent is good (productions are so-so, but the talent makes up for it). On the 3-night cruises there is a Captain's Gala with free champagne and you can probably order another drink if you prefer as there were waiters circulating. They offered dance classes (swing and Latin) along with the usual bingo, art auction & bellyflop contest. And the Platinum/Diamond event is a boffo cocktail party in the Viking Crown lounge. So there's lots to do on board

Enjoy your cruise!

I've sailed on the Monarch 6 times during the past 2 years and have another booked for June. I may even sail again early next year if I can find the time.

The crew is the main reason I've sailed so many times on this ship.

Yes, the cabins are small and the ship doesn't have all the bells and whistles, but I've enjoyed all of my previous cruises and look forward to sailing on the Monarch again.
