Rhapsody drink & dine offers Oct2015

Recommended Posts

Just back off a fantastic 9 day cruise on Rhapsody of the Seas around the Greek Islands and Turkey.

Though I'd share the onboard drink and dine deals on offer.

As this cruise visited Turkey it was European VAT free. So just US $ prices inc grats were shown everywhere.

I was going to prebook Premium drinks package for the two of us but held off until onboard.

I'm glad I did as we were greeted with the following offer.

25% off purchase of two Premium or Ultimate beverage packages. We paid a total of $415 each for the Premium packages.

I'm not quite sure on their daily maths on the flyer, but to me $415/9 = $46.11 each per day, it was 3 x cocktails and 2 bottles of water per day breakeven!

I'd read about the "Ultimate Dining" package on some previous Rhapsody compasses kindly uploaded by a CC member.

This would suit our needs for this cruise (we had a birthday and 2 anniversaries to celebrate) and looked like a good deal.

Any speciality restaurant every night for $20 each. I'd understood from other cc threads there was a $35 allowance to use in Izumi.

So just to be sure of what's allowed etc, I asked at the signup table, "yes $20 per day, any speciality restaurant",

Michael from Izumi was manning the dinning package desk, I queried how this would work at Izumi to be told

"sir it's unlimited", I asked again to be sure, & took his name and photo !

He was extremely helpful and we sat with him and booked our weeks speciality dining, also noting the birthday and anniversaries requests we had.

I also wanted to do the Giovannis Indian curry night, he offered me this at $22 not the $29 they were advertising it at.

So did it work. Well yes and brilliantly !

we had 3 nights at Chops, 2 nights Giovannis, plus curry night and 3 nights at Izumi.

All the restaurants mentioned we were on the deal at checkin and seemed pleased we'd taken the offer.

AND YES Izumi was all you can eat !

We'd only ever done Izumi before on Allure and then we had the Hibachi.

So for us this was a new experience, and we made sure we tried everything we liked the look off.

Really enjoyed each meal there and Nelson (Brazil) our excellent server on all 3 nights.

"Cocktail of the day" on Rhapsody is gone!

Now have "mixologist" drinks at $16 each! with a 20% discounted between 5/7 & 9/11pm.

Spent many hours at the RBar don't think they sold many.

Worrying thing for those looking at Select drinks package.

When we drink wine we liked the cheapo Behringer White Zin (we drink it like lemonade, couple of bottles per meal).

A glass of this (& the other base priced wines) is now $9 Did not explore further as how that worked on the Select package $8 limit.

Diamond Internet discount.

We needed internet for the whole trip but the $40 diamond discount did not show on signup.

Guest services put this right, seemed it was the norm for them to do it retrospectively.

A wonderful cruise enhanced by the great Ultimate dining deal and discounted Premium drinks package,

off course we tipped extra each meal for the great service.

Current captain on board until Brazil crossing.

he's quite a laugh, you must go to his question and answer session on last sea day.

Other onboard dining deals

I don't think Chefs table was in the Ultimate package, I can't say for sure as it was never on our wish list, but it is in the other packages.

We got to know the Chefs Table waiter (wonderful guy from Brazil) as he collects his clients from the meeting point at the end of the RBar.

Some nights he was several guests short and would offer "special" prices to anyone around at the bar.

No mystery dinner just Indian night.

I did not see any wine only packages.
