Can you use aud in noumea, mystery island and isle of pines. What denominations would you take if you can? Thanks

you can use AUD in those places but some shops in Noumea like the local currency but you can get money from the ATM

Yes, Aussie dollars are accepted pretty-well everywhere in New Caledonia and Vanuatu, and are very much the preferred foreign currency.

The only minor difficulty we had was admission to the little town museum in Noumea's main square, it cost only pennies & when we bought coffees in the main square our server kindly gave us enough change in local shrapnel.

You might come across the same with other govt sites or local buses, but the vast bulk of your spend will be bars, stalls etc on the beaches, & vans & taxis at the jetties, all in AUD.

No worries

JB :)
