grammyrussell Posted September 29, 2005 #1 Share Posted September 29, 2005 My family will be sailing on the Dream 10/22/05 to Cancun,Cozumel,Roatan and Belize. I'm trying to decide on shore excursions. Has anyone had any experience in not having enough time in Belize or Cancun to do the tours? Is it safe to wait until we dock to get tours or should we pay the extra and book through the cruise? Thanks for you help!:)
electricron Posted September 29, 2005 #2 Share Posted September 29, 2005 If you're worrying about the time to take the tour, especially the "longer ones to the Tulum Ruins", it's best to book the tour on the ship. If anything were to happen, like a bus breaking down, or something much worse, the ship will wait for the bus to return before departing. If you hired a private tour made other arrangements to the ruins, you'd be out of luck as the ship will depart leaving you behind. You'll save a lot of money booking the shorter private tours on your own. As for which excursion to take, that really depends on what you interests are? Do you like fishing? Do you like snorkling? Do you like just lying around on a beach? Do you like to shop? Do you like horseback riding? Do you like white water rafting? See my point. Book what you like doing. Norm Prestage Posted October 3, 2005 #4 Share Posted October 3, 2005 We rented a car (Avis) and did our own excursion. Saw much more than other passengers, and at a fraction of the cost. Best of all, we could stop when we wanted, where we wanted, as opposed to 'being taken' to certain stops on the tours. Think about this option. Belize is facinating. See the Mayan ruins. Interesting fact: There is a sizable Menonite population there. Its an easy place to navigate around. Enjoy, and Bon Voyage!
