St. Paul de Vence

A number of people have written about what a wonderful town this is to visit. Has anybody stayed there overnight? Where did you stay? How was it getting to the Nice airport in the morning? Are there taxis or did the hotel have to arrange a car? Thanks for the info. I'm trying to decide whether to stay there or in Nice proper for a post-cruise night. Linda

How early? It's not far and you don't have to go through Nice to get there. We really loved being up there. Definitely worth the drive and great restaurants in the village.

8:30 flight. I'm guessing you have to prebook a car and driver. Have had experiences of no cabs available in the smaller Riviera towns. Still interested in hotel recommendations. Thank you. Linda

We've always driven ourselves. I don't think you want to be in St Paul without a car. There's so much to see in the area. We loved touring in the day and coming back to the village after the crowds were gone for the day.

We have stayed three times at Le Hameau and loved it. It just oozes charm. Beautiful grounds with gardens bursting with flowers. It is a five minute walk up the road to the village. I love being able to get away from the crowds disgorged from tourists buses. The hotel arrange for a car and driver to take us to the Nice Airport at 6:30 for an 8:30 flight on our last visit. On previous visits we rented a car which we dropped off at the Nice train station before traveling elsewhere.
