abcoltsfan Posted February 14, 2016 #1 Share Posted February 14, 2016 Has anyone used the new Carnival tender boats that are supposed to be bigger and easier to get wheelchairs on/off the boats? I have not cruised in a while and just curious if these are much better. I am particularly interested in the tender ships in catalina island as I will be sailing out of there on the 28th of Feb. I have a compact manual chair.
xxoocruiser Posted February 14, 2016 #2 Share Posted February 14, 2016 Not aware of Carnival having any new tenders with roll-on capacity on any of its ships. In fact the only cruise line that I beleive has some tenders with roll-on capacity is Holland American and with that said they're not in operation most of time. RE: Cataline Island - It's my understanding that the Port Authority of Catalina Island provides a tender with roll-on capability and that Carnival does not use it's own tenders. In which case if the weather and sea conditions are good you'll be permitted to wheel right on board. It's important to remember that even with if the tender has roll-on capabilities the Carnival Captain still has the final say as to whether or nor wheelchairs will be boarded. goingplaces1132 Posted March 3, 2016 #3 Share Posted March 3, 2016 There was a roll on tender from carnival at half moon cay last week. That being said, half moon cay is owned by holland.

Technically Carnival Corporation & PLC which owns Holland America owns Half Moon Cay.

Carnival is now using the old Catalina Ferries. Last time in Catalina we were behind a power chair going back into the ship. Bonus--there are bathrooms :D.
