buying cruise tickets in miami

In years past you could show up at the port and buy a cabin if one was available, but that's not possible with present day security. Even if you're in Miami you'll still need to go through a travel agent or call a line directly, there's no cruise line "office" to go to. They do close bookings a few days before the cruise though - I've heard 7 days to as few as 3 days. I'm not sure exactly what it really is, but if there's a cruise you want to go on, book it now. It seems as if there are few last minute "deals" anymore, the fewer cabins available, the higher the price.
