pipeye1 Posted February 19, 2016 #1 Share Posted February 19, 2016 My wife was in head on car accident on the 12 of this month. We do have ins. but she does not want me to cancel. Will a wheel chair fit on the balcony? Thank God she was driving a small school bus.We don't sail until April. but with the ankle surgery coming up this week , doctor said she will have to have one or two more. Any advice on being way back there would help. Thanks
Clarea Posted February 19, 2016 #2 Share Posted February 19, 2016 A wheel chair will fit on the balcony, but I don't know if it will fit through the stateroom doorway. Any chance of getting an accessible stateroom?
spookwife Posted February 19, 2016 #3 Share Posted February 19, 2016 other issues include the step up into the bathroom. also all the interior spaces are carpeted except for the windjammer area and if she is self propelling that can be problematic unless she has good arm strength. might I suggest a knee roller instead if the doc wants her non weight bearing or no crutches. TonyBuzz Posted February 20, 2016 #4 Share Posted February 20, 2016 We had a JS on Nav near the forward elevators. Wife needs a wheelchair for longer distances. The door may be the issue. I had my wife hop out so I could fold the wheelchair to fit through the door. Accessible rooms have wider doors and ramps over the door sills to the balcony. Lots easier if you are in a wheelchair.
