MrsPawel25 Posted February 29, 2016 #1 Share Posted February 29, 2016 My husband and I are heading out on my first cruise on Carnival Victory in a few weeks. He has only been on 1 other cruise before and it was before he was old enough to be in the casino. We plan on spending some time playing some games and I had a few questions. DH likes to play poker. Are the table poker games cash games or is there ever a tournament? What is the minimum bet on cash games, or what is the buy-in for any tournaments? I like roulette. What is the minimum bet? BTHodgeman Posted March 7, 2016 #2 Share Posted March 7, 2016 My husband and I are heading out on my first cruise on Carnival Victory in a few weeks. My recent experience was on the Carnival Valor, but it should be fairly consistent. The only live poker game they had was on a single Poker Pro (electronic) table. The rake was very high (15%), and some of the hands that were dealt suggested that the electronic game "stacks the deck" to encourage more betting and a higher casino hold. It was a $1/2 no-limit game. There wasn't a ton of play during my cruise. The players who played the first day typically just set a time and tried to meet up again on a future day. We also had the casino hosts call out that there was a live game starting shortly. They did offer tournaments a couple times during the cruise. Buy-in was $100, and payout was around 50% winner-take-all. (That did also include a free entry to the Championship cruise event, but no discount on the cruise fare itself.) There were also some Let-it-Ride and 3-Card dealt games generally with $5-10 minimums. (4-6 total tables) Minimum bet at Roulette, I believe, was $1/spot and $5/spin. Blackjack minimums were $5 on my cruise, and $6 on a cruise one of my friends took in January. (Note that the 6:5 payouts on a $6 game hurts the player, since the casino doesn't have a way to pay you $7.20 and instead pays just $7. That said, you'd be encouraged to play in $5 increments, effectively making the table minimum $10.)

I think my husband might try and get into a tournament while we are on the ship.
