The Viking Posted April 12, 2016 #1 Share Posted April 12, 2016 Thinking of a cruise out of Galveston with a stop in Roatan. We understand that the immigration/customs is very slow and wonder if anyone has been able to use Global Entry in Galveston. We are nervous that we will not be able to make a pre booked shuttle back to the airport or may have a long wait in we book one fairly late. dljones Posted April 15, 2016 #2 Share Posted April 15, 2016 Found this... http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1715288 Customs in Galveston is pretty busy but there are a lot of lines and they move moderately. I don't think we've ever waited more than about 20 minutes.
raynvic Posted April 15, 2016 #3 Share Posted April 15, 2016 Carnival did not have Global Entry set up in Galveston when we debarked 2 weeks ago, however, customs and immigration moved pretty quickly for us.
The Viking Posted April 16, 2016 Author #4 Share Posted April 16, 2016 Appreciate your responses. However, we have never had such good luck as both of you in Galveston. Will check it out ourselves when we get back to port

brigand13 Posted May 24, 2016 #6 Share Posted May 24, 2016 I read elsewhere on these boards that CBP is doing Global Entry at select seaports (Port of Everglades was mentioned in particular). So, perhaps that is a pilot program that they are considering rolling out to all seaports in the future (fingers crossed!). This may not affect the cruise the OP is considering out of Galveston, but something to keep an eye on for anyone who has GE. One caveat is that apparently you MUST bring your GE card (not just your passport) in order to gain access to the expedited line.
