kimgoose Posted April 30, 2016 #1 Share Posted April 30, 2016 At the stop in St. Thomas , we were looking to go to a beach on our own and do some snorkeling. Any ideas of where we should go?

Yeah. Get off St Thomas and go to St John. It's a cab and ferry ride. Plenty of people do it.
purpletequila Posted April 30, 2016 #4 Share Posted April 30, 2016 Other than that, Magen's Bay or Coki are popular (read usually crowded) or, Lindquist is nice but about 25-30 minutes from the pier.
Carolina Girl 99 Posted April 30, 2016 #5 Share Posted April 30, 2016 When we were there in June, we took a taxi from the pier into the center of town to do some shopping. We met up with a friendly local who was offering a sightseeing/beach tour for $25 pp and told us to meet him back at the town park (forget the name of the park) by noon if we were interested. We took his card and got his name (Meynard), then went shopping for a couple of hours. Decided we were ready for the beach and met him back in town. There we hopped on an open-air safari type van and we got a nice tour up to Mountaintop with a several observation stops where we snapped some great photos and learned some history of the island. He then took us to Sapphire Beach where we spent 3 hours having a great time. He met us at a designated pick up area and drove us back to the ship on a different route than we had taken to the beach so we got to see more of the beautiful island. He dropped us right back at the pier and we still had about an hour to browse in the shops there before boarding again. Best $25 I ever spent!!!
