I"m 40 and have been all over the U.S. I have been "single" for about seven years. My vacations have pretty much involved visiting the relatives. I'm very adveturous and love to travel. Alone has always been a hang up. Then I decided I didn't want to wait for some one to go with any longer. So I booked my first cruise. I may be by myself but because I am open to meeting new people and going to new places I know I will have a great time. Because I won't have to co-ordinate with anyone I am free to do and try all types of new things. I am a little nervous, but I think the excitement maskes it very well. Plus this way there are 0 expectations except to have a good time.

I have traveled with a singles group on the Carnival Fascination and Legend and the Costa Victoria and Atlantica. I am now considering the Carnival Glory on August 26th, 2006.

I like traveling solo because I feel more independent. My family and friends are always either too busy or can't afford it.

Hi,

I am 46, I've cruised before but with family now that I'm single I've been contemplating going on a cruise by myself but I dont know if its fear of going alone or not fitting in or just not used to doing things alone.

What would you suggest be the best way to cruise single/solo, I would like to know someone ahead of time so I didnt feel so "alone", also I think I would be more comfortable the first solo cruise with a roommate, does the cruise line have a roommate matching program?

thanks, Brenda

Hi, I am 48 and sail solo all the time. A good way to meet others

is through the ROLL CALL forum on this site.:)

If you know when you want to go....see if there is a roll call

already started for your particular sailing. If there is....become

an active participant and it is a great way to meet other people

on the same cruise. IF there isn't one started yet...be the originator,

and others are more than likely to join you:)

I prefer to sail on my own. I have shared cabins before (with people

I have chatted with from this site!). We got along but after the

2nd time, I just prefer my own space.

As for other ways of meeting people, request a large table at dinner.

Join in on some the activities on board the ship.....also if you want

to do an excursion,...I usually book through the ship. It is a great

way to meet others as well.

I am sailing again next month:D it can't get here soon enough!!!

As for cruiseline matching, for me that would be a non-issue.

I have shared my 2 cabins with people I know.......(from here).

But I wouldn't share with someone that the cruiseline put me with...

as you just don't know people.....what if they smoke?

Or who knows...they could be really clingy....

or whatever reason......At 48 years old, I am independent and

if I share a cabin it would be with someone I know.

Bottom line is, I prefer going solo anyway:)

Enjoy your cruise......whatever you decide!
