Boarding time

They often send an email or something with a suggested boarding time. Honestly, we ignore that time, and go when we want to. Usually we're checking out of a hotel and ready to start the fun.

We typically get to the pier about 11 a.m. and check in, go have a bite to eat and relax and wait for the cabins to open up about 1 or 1:30. You'll have your carry on bags with you but not the checked bags. Those should get to your cabin sometime mid to late afternoon. We unpack our carry on bags as soon as we get to the cabin. Those usually have the toiletries and small items, electronics, etc. Remember you store your luggage all under your bed. We keep a big case open to put dirty clothes in one side and things we won't wear again or seldom use in the other side.

There's only about 90 minutes between when the last passengers are off and the first ones are on. I bet the crew loves that peace and quiet:roll eyes:

Sometimes there is a reason to delay boarding for extra cleaning or customs or some other reason unseen, but in most cases anywhere in the world they will start letting people on around 11. Some like to wait until 1:30 or 2:00 so they can go straight to their room. We like to start our cruise as early as we can, make the most of that first day. We tend to sail the same two Celebrity ships over and over so we don't need to "tour" the ship, but for some people that's what they do when they get on.

Have a wonderful time!!!

We sailed from Sydney last November. I forget what they suggested for our boarding time but we walked over from our hotel about noon and were enjoying lunch before 1pm..The walk was about 15 minutes with luggage. They were really quick there. One note on boarding in Sydney, once you are on the ship, you cannot go back out. Staff there told us as we were checking in that if we wanted to do any more shopping etc ashore to just go back out right after we checked in, before we went through security.

Here's the offical staggered check in times for Australian cruises. Your cruise isn't listed yet, but they all start boarding around 11am or 11.30am.

You would also get your 'offical' notification as part of your cruise documentation when you check in online.

But as others advise, they aren't to strict on adhering to it, it's suggested vs mandatory!
