moki'smommy Posted July 1, 2016 #1 Share Posted July 1, 2016 Another unfortunate event. http://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/local/Boy-Nearly-Drowns-Anthem-of-the-Seas-Cruise-Ship-385125061.html I know nothing beyond the news reports of this case....but again, parents need to ALWAYS be aware of where their children are. That means "eyes on" if they are in the pool. It doesn't matter whether there is a lifeguard trying to watch 30 or 100 kids in their area of the pool, a parent watching one or a few kids can do a better job of tracking those few. Please watch your children--no matter how old, no mater how good a swimmer, no matter that there is a guard.

Ex techie Posted July 12, 2016 #4 Share Posted July 12, 2016 News 12 in Central Jersey has reported that the child has died. So very very sad and tragic. Thoughts with the family. And as Moki'smommy says watch your children--no matter how old, no mater how good a swimmer, no matter that there is a guard. So terrible. ex techie
Viva_la_Vida Posted July 12, 2016 #5 Share Posted July 12, 2016 http://www.miamiherald.com/news/business/tourism-cruises/article88970617.html The child passed away. The story said he had a seizure disorder which may have contributed. The article also said the ship was on a caribbean itinerary, which I think is incorrect as I think it was just going to Bermuda. Prayers for this family, how tragic.

Prayers for this family, how tragic. I was on the ship. It was a 9 day trip from NYC to Bermuda and the Caribbean. The response from NYPD and FDNY to get the boy off the ship was amazing. Unfortunately, he didn't make it. Be safe, friends.
