WeddNcruise Posted August 17, 2016 #1 Share Posted August 17, 2016 We have a cruise coming up departing from Galveston and we will be arriving that morning (driving) from Dallas. So we chose a 2:30 check in time. My question is if we get there EARLIER by some miracle, can we still embark? Or do we have to wait? poz222 Posted August 17, 2016 #2 Share Posted August 17, 2016 You will have to wait. They are strict on staggered check in.
RHilla619 Posted August 17, 2016 #3 Share Posted August 17, 2016 Unfortunately your most likely still going to have to wait until 2:30, so take your time driving down and enjoy lunch on the road I suppose.
WeddNcruise Posted August 17, 2016 Author #4 Share Posted August 17, 2016 What happens if you have a check in time at 1 and miss it cuz you didn't get there till 2? How does that work? Sent from my iPhone using Forums
N2Mischief Posted August 17, 2016 #5 Share Posted August 17, 2016 As long as you arrive after your check-in time you are good.
WeddNcruise Posted August 17, 2016 Author #6 Share Posted August 17, 2016 Huh...maybe I should choose an earlier time then. Cuz I really think we can be there by 1 Sent from my iPhone using Forums
cruzeluver Posted August 17, 2016 #7 Share Posted August 17, 2016 If you are departing form a port with staggered check-in (Galveston included) then you may not enter the terminal prior to your selected check-in window. No problem if you arrive later.
bptex Posted August 17, 2016 #8 Share Posted August 17, 2016 You can drop off your luggage and park your car anytime you want and there are a few things to do right next to the pier to kill time. Don't underestimate Houston traffic btw. Any kind of activity on I-45 can mean sitting for more than an hour.
First and Ten Posted August 17, 2016 #9 Share Posted August 17, 2016 (edited) Unfortunately your most likely still going to have to wait until 2:30, so take your time driving down and enjoy lunch on the road I suppose. you have a great checkin time....show up between 2:30-3:00 and the herd would have thinned on the pier, your room will be ready, and the lines on Lido will have greatly subsided due to the "firstie crazies" will have already fed from the trough and are probably wandering aimlessly around the ship at that point....Enjoy your cruise Edited August 17, 2016 by First and Ten
It's a Ship!!! Posted August 17, 2016 #10 Share Posted August 17, 2016 They won't let you in the building if you get there before your check in time, but you can get there anytime after your check in time and they will let you in without a problem. If you can change to an earlier time, then that would be a good idea. If you can't change, then Galveston has the Strand right across from the terminal. It's a street with tons of shops, bars, and restaurants. You can usually find live music with a fun atmosphere in a lot of the bars and restaurants there. So it may cost you a few bucks to have lunch and a drink or 2 there instead of on the ship, but it's a cool little area.
