We are taking RCCL in May of next year and are looking for recommendations for where to stay for a week before the cruise.cruise is leaving from Honolulu so we want to be in that area. Would rather not have to rent a car. We will be 4 seniors and need a min of two bedrooms and two baths. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

There are very few legal, single home rentals on Oahu.

Do you have a budget in mind?

Waikiki would be my first pick with places like the Waikiki Beach Tower, Ilikai, Hilton Grand Vacation Club, Waikiki Sunset and Waikiki Shore, to name a few.

After that, maybe Ko Olina with the Marriott and Ko Olina Beach Resort, maybe Aulani.

We stayed a few days on the Windward Coast in a home overlooking Kaneohe Bay and the Koolau Mountains. In the islands, it is common to build homes with private entries and seperate living quarters, and many rent these out to vacationers. We had what was essentially a 1 br condo with a very large private lanai overlooking Kaneohe Bay and the Koolau Mountains. We also stayed a few days at the Turtle Bay Resort on the Northshore where they have hotel, condo and private oceanfront cottage accommodations. In these areas, you will find very few hotels or condos. There is basically one road and some small towns, so driving is very easy compared to Honolulu and Waikiki.

All you need to do is simply Google "Vacation homes and condo rentals on O'ahu". There are many companies which consolidate these rentals, like Homeaway, everything from condos to entire houses. You will have to designate the area, so have a map handy. You will find so many offerings, it is a little overwhelming.

I used AirBnB to find a condo to rent. We are going in December, but I'm looking forward to it rather than a hotel. It was less $ and it has a washer and dryer in the room so I can do laundry before getting on the cruise.
