How is Playa Del Carmen?

I would like for someone to let us know how things are in this area..we are interested in visiting Playa in December and want to do a Dolphin swim and is this gonna be possible? are bars, shops and restaurants going to be up and running? Please let me know about the damage there:)

Playa wasn't hit nearly as bad as Cancun. I drove though a bit on the Wed. after the hurricane and I didn't really notice any difference from before the hurricane. You may want to check out http://www.tripadvisor.com and go to the playa forum. You can get more specific info there.

All restaurants and shops are open in Playa. It is like nothing happened in there with Wilma. Cozumel, Puerta Moreles and Cancun were hit much harder.

Just in Playa this past week on the Conquest -- it's beautiful -- the damage is being repaired very quickly by the people of Playa -- foliage damage appears to be the worst of the devastation

Wondering about transportation from Playa Del Carmen.......to the Ruins.......how are the roads.......also looking for a good tour company with transportaion to the Ruins.....in case Cruise does not offer Tour........thanks, Sammie kay

The roads were in excellent shape -- we took thee tour bus from PDC to Tulum and it was smooth sailing. Others have rented cars and had equally good luck.

My daughter did the dolphin swim 2 weeks ago at dolphin discovery in Puerto Adventuras. It was wonderful! It would just be easier if your ship was going to dock at Calica instead of anchoring off Cozumel for this particular excursion.
