Purchasing Drink Package out to Sea

Hello all and thank you in advance for this question answer ! I am going on 5 night Independence of the Seas sailing to Labadee and Falmouth. IF i purchase the drink package the second day i am on the ship , am I charged taxes on the package? I know in the past we saved taxes on drink packages once we were so many miles out into international waters. I don't want to purchase the first day as i won't drink $56 that first day after a late arrival....

You won't be charged taxes taxes only the 18% gratuity.

One thing to consider though. Check your cruise planner as they have been offering the packages at 20 - 30% off vs paying full price on board. Even buying it the second day on board you would still be paying the same total price as you would be by buying it in advance for the full 5 days.

Also, a 10 drink card is sometimes offered - a pretty good deal usually depending on what kind of drink you want.

A good deal but it is usually only offered the last couple days of the cruise.
