mamasylvia Posted December 17, 2016 #1 Share Posted December 17, 2016 I'm following this subject on Alaska threads as well, but wanted to post here to see if any of you have ideas for things to do in Victoria. It's a fairly short stop for us, 6pm-midnight in May. I have a scooter but SIL is only planning to take her manual wheelchair. The castle isn't accessible and I'm not a big gardens fan, especially at night. ;)
xxoocruiser Posted December 18, 2016 #2 Share Posted December 18, 2016 (edited) Did a similar cruise with a late evening Victoria stop this past September. Victoria is pretty quiet generally after 5:00 PM. Believe Butchart will be open until 10 pm and Craigdarroch until 7 pm at that time. Unfortunately, the Royal BC Museum is open late only on Fri/Sat nights. Other than that there's really only the downtown area which is about 15 minutes from the port.Bottom line this port stop is really to satisfy the cruise lines requirement that the ship has to stop at a foreign port. Being that I was in Victoria before during the day on several past cruise , I opted to just remain on the ship this past September. Most people just got off took a walk around the downtown area for little while and than returned. If your going on Princess note that on that day dinner will be open seating for everyone regardless of what you had all the previous nights. All the main dining room on all floors will be open for a set period of time. You don't sit at your assigned table if booked into traditional dining. All Passengers line up early and are seated on a first come first served basis. Lucky for me a fellow passenger invited me to have dinner in Sabatini's that evening and didn't have to deal with the main dining room at all. olvrxyzh Posted December 23, 2016 #3 Share Posted December 23, 2016 We were in Victoria last year and did a pedicab tour with Victoria Pedicab Co. The tour guide put my manual wheelchair on the back of the pedicab. It was $ 75 per person for a 2 1/2 hour tour. I would highly recommend this tour.
