Private Island Posted December 20, 2016 #1 Share Posted December 20, 2016 Interested in the RCCL Shore Excursion, Sapphire Beach ($39.00) or Secret Sands Beach ($52.00)? Looking for nice swimming beach with shade for a lounge chair, not snorkeling this cruise. Both excursions have an Island Drive and chairs included. Has anyone done one of these or have an opinion? Thank you!
blue_water Posted December 22, 2016 #2 Share Posted December 22, 2016 Sapphire Beach and Smith Bay Park (where the secret sands excursion goes) are a short drive from one another and are both gorgeous beaches with natural shade. You can taxi to either beach on your own for $20pp round trip, and lounges at Sapphire are $9 each. There are food and drink options at Sapphire as well as restrooms. No lounges available at Smith Bay unless you take the excursion through the ship. There is also a small entry fee at Smith Bay, Sapphire is open to the public. Smith Bay Park (Lindqvist Beach) is arguably the nicest St Thomas beach, but Sapphire is gorgeous also and we like having room to spread out there. So I would suggest just hopping a taxi on your own and going to Sapphire as that is very easy to do. You can head back to the ship whenever you want, and taxis are available for the return. merinski Posted December 22, 2016 #3 Share Posted December 22, 2016 We took a taxi van with a group of cc people(10) to Saphire beach, it's a beautiful beach.
