hlsess Posted February 23, 2017 #1 Share Posted February 23, 2017 Can anyone tell me how this works? I just asked the TA and she is looking into it but we check in at 12 and leave at 1 for a 4.5 train ride- are the bags taken by Silversea when we check in and then we just board the ship... are there food/drinks/bar on the train? any other tips.... You will board the train in Anchorage. Your luggage will be taken in Anchorage and delivered directly to your cabin on the ship. It will probably be there when you arrive, as it is usually trucked down to Seward ahead of the train. You can take a carry on bag on the train but you should know that there is not a lot of room for storage. The train will have full bar service and at a minimum offer snacks and maybe complete meals. The ride is beautiful and worth every minute if it. You should be in a glass dome car with incredible views and if you like pictures you can either go out on the observation platform or on the platform between the cars. Seating is usually at tables of 4 and two people ride backwards. Our experience is that I spend most of the trip standing up taking photos and wandering the train.
