How difficult is it to get tickets for the opera in February and how do you go about it?

You can book through the Opera House's own website, but irritatingly it's down at the moment so I can't even see what's on. Typical Murphy's Law, actually - I was surfing it for a more casual reason a couple of days ago but never got as far as looking at availability for the dates that I was interested in (end Jan/early Feb), so can't even give you a steer on that at the moment.

Madama Butterfly

February 1, 4, 11, 14, 17, 22, 25 (Evenings at 7.30pm)

 

Falstaff

February 3, 8, 15 (Evenings at 7.30pm)

February 11 (Matinee at 1pm)

 

The Elixir of Love

February 2, 7, 10, 18, 21, 24 (Evenings at 7.30pm)

February 4 (Matinee at 1pm)

 

The bad news: Booking doesn't open for single performances until 26 November, as its currently subscription sales only. However, I'd be surprised if there was absolutely nothing left when booking opens.

Thanks for the info! Are there any brokers that sell the tickets besides the website?

I don't know, but there's probably little point if you're able to book when booking opens. Although I haven't been to the Opera House for some years, I don't get the impression that performances sell out months in advance, as many shows still feature in mass advertising a few days before the show. And having run a test, you can still get tickets for this coming Saturday evening's ballet, for example.
