bostongal123 Posted March 23, 2017 #1 Share Posted March 23, 2017 We are going on Oasis next months and our ports are Nassau, St Thomas (Charlotte Amalie) and St Maarten (Philipsburg). If you have sailed to these locations with your young children, what excursions have you done and would you recommend any? Thanks!
cb at sea Posted March 23, 2017 #2 Share Posted March 23, 2017 Most folks would do a beach day, for a couple hours. To find out what is in each port, head to your local library and pick up a guidebook. You won't be able to take a 2 year old toddler on most excursions...but there are TONS of things you can do on your own that will satisfy everyone. The sun is VERY strong in the Caribbean...and even, in the Bahamas (which are NOT in the Caribbean...Atlantic Islands, you know).... Read up on your ports...decide what suits you, and if you need help with the "how to". we are happy to help!
Neotericisis Posted April 2, 2017 #3 Share Posted April 2, 2017 St. Thomas, perhaps Coki beach since it is directly next to Coral World Ocean park. There is lots of shade and it is similar to an aquarium both in set up, cost etc. Plus you can spend a few hours at the beach. There are tons of cabs to and from the port so that's a nonissue. For St. Maarten, hmm, maybe Maho beach to see the planes land. There is a beach grill there. The beach is a bit slim and it can be packed. Also, the planes may be scary or very cool (they will be loud and windy). There are lots of cabs there so transportation is easy. Marigot on the French side has a nice walking area with lots of shopping stalls, drink stands, and I believe there is a public beach there (double check though). This is where you should go for a taste of the island food. Nassau is the easiest, day tickets to Atlantis. It's well maintained and commercial, but your little one will enjoy the shark tanks, sting rays, etc. Plus there is air conditioning in the buildings.
