EL Faro

a few years ago we spent a lovely day at El Faro. Bought a few margaritas and beers while the kids played on the beach. Has anyone been recently? The trip advisor reviews are terrible which concerns me that it's no longer a nice place to relax for the day. Any other recommendations for a laid back pay as you go beach bar near port?

The owner retired and leased his place out to what many long time local club owners consider to be thugs. They tell people they are owned by Tropicante next door. Over charge for loungers. Offer nothing in the way of service.

Go to Tropicante Steve and Jorge (?) will take good care of you and make sure you aren't bothered. Or even head to the new, opened 3 months,Pitaya, a block further south. Getting good reviews excellent service with a European flair. Or Blue Kay at the north end of the malecon which has built up a good reputation over the past couple of years.
