Picked up a new toy today

I will be cruising to Alaska the inside passage including Glacier Bay. I have a Cannon Rebel Ti with a good telephoto lens. I plan on using this for still pictures and wanted something to point and shoot and take videos while on the excursions. I do have a 7 year old water proof compact point and shoot Kodak but was looking for something a little newer. Found a clearance today for just under $100 at a local retail store. I bought a Canon Powershot SX610 HS with tax it was $109. It has an awesome zoom at , 18x Optical, 4x Digital and 72x Combined Zoom with Optical Image Stabilizer. I have tried the zoom earlier and it really is fantastic if I can keep my hands steady. The SX610 is not a 2017 camera but it seems to have everything I will need for this trip. It was in a box that showed the image of a black camera however when I got it home I realized it said RED so my wife is very happy. Has anyone used one of these Canons for video?
