IF he has paid the fee to be allowed in the port as a 'taxi'

there have been several posts recently of UBER drivers dropping people just off property as they do NOT have the permit

ask b4 you get in is probably the best bet

https://www.portcanaveral.com/Business-With-Us/Commercial-Transportation

"All Commercial Vehicles must be registered and permitted by the Canaveral Port Authority in order to provide transportation services within the port. ... Transportation providers are prohibited from providing services without a permit."

"Permit Categories may include, but are not limited to, the following classes: Non-Concessionaire (N) Permit, Off-Port Parking Operator (P) Permit, Rental Car Operator ® Permit, Support Services (S) Permit, Taxicab (T) Permit, Vehicle for Hire (V) Permit."

" Transportation Vendors who provide services to the CPA must provide evidence of insurance coverage via a current insurance certificate (ACORD format preferred) before being activated. Commercial auto coverage in the dollar amount required is a minimum $1 Million."

It was explained to me as follows.

There is a difference in rules between pick up and drop off.

- Uber and every commercial company must have proper permits (stickers, etc) to PICK UP at the Port. No exceptions.

- For DROP OFFS - at minimum they are expected to pay only the port fees ($3) which are included in the Uber fare. Using the usual transponders (Sunpass, etc) they drive through the commercial payment station first then proceed to the drop area where the porters are. An Uber (or taxi) who drops only occasionally at the Port does not need to do more and MOST IMPORTANTLY - the passengers do not have to ask questions about permits, etc. Not necessary.

It works somewhat the same at Orlando Airport - any Uber can drop but only UberBlack can pick up.

HOWEVER - an Uber driver (or taxi) who makes it his/her business to drop at the Port is expected to complete the necessary paperwork. Meaning if the attendants see you often they will pressure you to purchase the permit!
