Question about changing cruises

Wondering if anyone has had any experience with this. We have booked a cruise on Explorer in September. Found out our neighbor is organizing a group cruise around the same time but out of Miami. He is getting a block of 100 cabins and thinks it's going to be a great price because of the number of cabins. If the price is right we were thinking of going with him. But my question is how do we go about changing cruises. Do we have to Cancel with our TA get our down payment back and then book with them giving that TA another $900 down payment? Or can we go thru the new TA (the group cruise) and they can cancel our original cruise and have the down payment transfered to them?

If you have a good relationship with your TA, you can have them move your deposit to your booking with your friend. All your TA has to do is cancel your original cruise and give RCI your booking number under the group and have RCI move your deposit to the new booking.
