Venture Posted June 12, 2004 #1 Share Posted June 12, 2004 Sapphire Princess successfully docked at the Victoria Cruise Ship Terminal this morning on her inaugural visit to this city. She looks marvelous and had no problem docking with her Italian Captain at the helm!! She is on a 'two nighter' from Seattle with the Governor of Alaska and wife, and senior management from Princess aboard she sails at 5pm. Last night the Diamond Princess again did not dock here. She has now missed three of her first five visits. The westerly winds are still with us but did not seem to be as blustery as last week when she came in nicely. The Oosterdam , same length, not as high or heavy, came alongside with no problem. She has azipods as does the Norwegian Star and Amsterdam, both of which dock tonight. Victoria this year has 144 cruise ship visits, slightly more than last year. I believe we only had three 'aborted' dockings in 2003, one by Star Princess and two by Amsterdam. We all fervently hope the winds will abate.
