what to do in Whittier?

In August we will be doing a back to back, northbound to Whittier and then southbound. Can anyone tell me what to do in Whittier?

Hi Coral! Did you do the 26 Glaciers? I am trying to decide whether to do it or so back down to Seward and do Kenai Fjords again. Has anyone who has done both have an opinion.

 

Also, after looking at kkorman's gorgeous photos of Prince William Sound, I am wondering if we really need to do another boat trip -- it looks like you see so much on the Coral/Island Princess itinerary.

I no longer have the excursions Princess offered for the port but there were about 4 and one included kayaking.

 

Kayla's mom - I booked it and prepaid the $100 for the excursion but ended up not going (so I lost my money). To make a long story short - I ended up using the turn around day to take a well needed nap that afternoon.

 

Obviously I can't compare the two but I really enjoyed Seward last year. The only reason why I booked the 26 Glacier tour was because I did a B2B cruise with a turnaround day in Whittier. I would probably vote for Seward.

YOu can book a kayaking tour through the AK Railway. THere was a huge group that left from Anchorage, dropped people off in Whiiter, went kayaking, and then cam back to pick peopl eup that did the 26 glacier tour. I think they returned at 4:15 and we got off the first whittier stop at 12.

Recently returned from back to backs on the Island. We spent the day doing a little laundry. Took a long walk along the quawall toward the tunnel and then downtown. Not much there but good exercise. The rest of the day we sat on the fantail of deck ten and soaked up the sun.
