And if your hotel isn't in walking distance of termini, are taxi's readily available?

Our hotel really isn't near Termani, so we would have no other choice but to take other transportation. How do the taxi's charge in Rome> Is it set fares, by the mile, 1/2 mile? Is there a initial charge and then the meter goes?

Cheers

Len

There should be taxis but I really didn't notice because we took the subway from Termini to our hotel. The subway station connects to Termini so you don't have to go outside.

If you haven't already done so, get a copy of Rick Steve's Rome book. There's a lot of helpful info there.
