Embl Posted August 16, 2017 #1 Share Posted August 16, 2017 Just wondering if anyone has been here recently and can offer any helpful information. We will be on an RCI cruise in November.
dennisamor Posted August 16, 2017 #2 Share Posted August 16, 2017 Nice high-class resort with reasonable restaurant and swimming pool. Shame they have now introduced a daily visitors' fee but it's worth it. There is a free ferry to the island from behind the casino. Have a nice day! Dennis. :ship::ship:
Embl Posted August 16, 2017 Author #3 Share Posted August 16, 2017 Are there any beach activities and if so do they cost extra?
jn2003 Posted August 16, 2017 #4 Share Posted August 16, 2017 They have a website with details of the day pass on their extras page. http://www.iririki.com/extras/ Of course it's better to get some first hand knowledge. Hopefully someone has been there recently.
Aussie FF Posted August 17, 2017 #5 Share Posted August 17, 2017 It is worth the entry fee, as you get a voucher for food and drinks to the price you pay. We usually swim & snorkel, then walk up the hill to the pool and restaurant area. The food & Wi-Fi are very good. Highly recommend it. Cheers Aussie Frequent Floaters. Sharky61 Posted August 18, 2017 #6 Share Posted August 18, 2017 When I visited about two years ago your ferry fee gives you access to the resort kayaks as well as a voucher for food and drinks. The beaches are pretty basic. The beaches around Hideaway Island which has the underwater post office are a lot nicer. It is only 15 minutes out of town. There is a beach bar there as well which sells basic burgers etc and cold beverages. There are heaps of shuttle buses running from the port, basically every van in town turns into a taxi on cruise days :)
Peal Posted August 20, 2017 #7 Share Posted August 20, 2017 We were there last week. Bought some duty free alcohol in the morning, walked to the ferry along the waterfront (except for the last bit where you have to deviate back onto the street). Not a bad way of spending the day - had lunch, went for a snorkel and read our books. Snorkeling area is pleasant enough with shack with free snorkeling gear and toilets. Beach is very ordinary with exposed rock and dead coral that is a bit difficult at low tide. Not much to see coral wise with a few better bits 50 metres out. I think last years cyclone caused some damage. The guy in the beach shack organised a water taxi direct to the cruise terminal - $5 each. I'd probably go to one of the other small islands with a better beach next time.
