seniorladycruiser Posted October 11, 2017 #1 Share Posted October 11, 2017 We have booked a sideways cabin on Nieuw Statendam for 2019, cabin number 5053 on Gershwin deck. It appears there are only 4 of these type of cabins on the Koningsdam and will be the same on Nieuw Statendam. My first question is has anyone stayed in any of these cabins yet on Koningsdam? What was the layout like? Since the cabin is sideways I assume patio is longer but an concerned about room layout. Is the sofa near the balcony doors? I certainly would like hearing comments about these cabins. Also regarding the cabins I do not see any magnifying mirrors on the desk. Has HAL stopped supplying them and is it a fixed hairdryer or a plug in you can use at the desk? Anything you can tell me would be very helpful. Thanks. We plan on celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary on this cruise, God willing!
catl331 Posted October 11, 2017 #2 Share Posted October 11, 2017 (edited) InTheWASide stayed in 5048, which should have a similar layout to 5053 but with a larger balcony. See photo in this thread: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2339171 It is a panorama so it is distorted, but it appears to me that the balcony door is next to the bed, and the love seat is at the other end of the room opposite the TV. I don't recall having a magnifying mirror in our VE cabin. Edited October 11, 2017 by catl331
