Banana15 Posted December 10, 2017 #1 Share Posted December 10, 2017 Hey Everyone, I currently have two reservations in Ft. Lauderdale for after our cruise. It's only for one night, but I'd like to be at the beach since we'll be there all day. My options are: 1) 1 King bed waterview room. It has corner windows, which is really nice, but no balcony. That's at Courtyard Ft. Lauderdale and it's $189 per night. 2) 1 King Balcony room. That's at BeachPlace Towers and is $197 per night. I am showing they have some refurbishments that start two days before we get there. I'm not too concerned about it, but I've never stayed somewhere with construction going on, so I don't know how bad it is. Has anyone stayed in either of these hotels that can offer opinions? It seems like the balcony room would be nicer, but it's cheaper and I'm not sure if that's because the place isn't as nice or maybe even just because of the construction. I've never been to Ft. Lauderdale, so I don't know if there is a difference in the "area" even thought they are fairly close to one another. I don't need anything super fancy, just don't want to stay somewhere that isn't clean.
mllewis48 Posted December 10, 2017 #2 Share Posted December 10, 2017 We’ve stayed at both but at BP we had a 1BR Condo Ocean Front with a balcony and at CY we had a corner room viewing both the ocean and Intercoastal. CY is easier to access the beach and BP sets back in a grouping of shops and restaurants. Both have access to restaurants, Water Taxi, and Trolly. If you can get Ocean Front at BP I would go that route. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

BlueHerons Posted December 12, 2017 #6 Share Posted December 12, 2017 Does the beach tend to be busier at BP (as opposed to CY) since it’s at a busier shopping area? No, the beach is the same. The Courtyard is only a couple of blocks from Beach Place. I would go with the Courtyard. The balconies at Beach Place actually obstruct the views. Those corner rooms at Courtyard have amazing, panoramic, unobstructed views. The Courtyard is walkable to Beach Place.

myfuzzy Posted December 12, 2017 #8 Share Posted December 12, 2017 We had an amazing beachfront balcony at BP. We did walk down to the CY, only to find it really didn't appeal to us. Even though BP is more difficult to access, through the parking ramp or mini mall, we did find it very nice over all.
BlueHerons Posted December 12, 2017 #9 Share Posted December 12, 2017 You don't feel like you're missing out on not being able to sit out on the balcony? Not even one bit. My good friends stay in one or the other all the time. He's got a milion Marriott points and they stay in the Courtyard first then the BP. The windows are floor to ceiling and expansive. The Courtyard also has a fantastic pool deck.
mllewis48 Posted December 12, 2017 #10 Share Posted December 12, 2017 The pool deck at CY is much smaller than BP plus the beach views at BP are better, JMO Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

BlueHerons Posted December 12, 2017 #12 Share Posted December 12, 2017 Don't know how one could have better ocean views than the other. They are the exact same distance from the Atlantic on the exact same beach blocks apart.
mllewis48 Posted December 12, 2017 #13 Share Posted December 12, 2017 Sitting on a balcony listening to and viewing the ocean, much better than staring thru a window. Have stayed at both but love the balcony view better. As far as accessibility the CY is better. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
myfuzzy Posted December 13, 2017 #14 Share Posted December 13, 2017 I would take the beach club over the courtyard.....I don't know why, but the courtyard didn't give me any "wow' factors
