ann141 Posted December 13, 2017 #1 Share Posted December 13, 2017 We are considering doing a (P and O )organised excursion but can t decide between the semi sub and sights in Aruba or the Seaworld Explorer in Curaco.I presume both vessels are similar but I wonder if anyone has experience of these excursions? vakamalua Posted February 4, 2018 #2 Share Posted February 4, 2018 We did a combination island tour and semi-submersible through our cruise ship (not P&O). We thought it was a very good choice. The tour was operated by DePalm Tours which seems to be the primary tour operator on the island. On the island tour, we visited the California Lighthouse, the Ayo & Casibari Rock Formations and the Natural Bridge area. As for the semi-sub, I assume this experience is only as good as the weather conditions and visibility in the water. After meeting the transfer boat at the Arashi Beach dock, it's about a 20 minute trip out to the semi-submersible. Once transferred on board and below, I recommend sitting toward the front of the boat near the guide/narrater so you can easily ask questions and get tips on what to look for. The tour over the shipwreck lasted about 30-40 minutes. We had pretty good visibility and we were able to see all of the wreck as we moved over it several times. With the wreck acting as an artificial reef, we saw a huge variety and number schools of of fish--even schools of barracuda. Our guide was fantastic and really added to the experience. It was well worth it! Then you get back on the transfer boat for the return to the dock.
