Im having a hard time deciding if I want to goto West End Village or West Bay Beach for the day. Is it possible to do both-- get dropped off say in the west end and shop in the morning and take the water taxi to Bananaramas ? Would this be the best way to do that or is their a better way such as a regular taxi/driver? Also anyone know the rates for the water taxi?

We’ve done both the same day a couple of times. Usually West Bay beach first. When it starts getting crowded we head over to West End for late lunch and then head back. On the other hand if you want to snorkel without the crowds at West Bay you can hit Half Moon Bay at West End. The water taxi between the two is like $3 pp each way. There are car taxis in both places but for the trip between the two the water taxi is easier and probably cheaper.

DO you think food choices are more reasonable priced on West End Village? Im working class and have 4 kids --3 of which are boys and 2 of those boys are teenage boys LOL

I find everything to be.moemexpenaive in West Bay. Coxen Hole also has better prices than West End.

Another thought, taxi on the island are not regulated, if haggling is not one of your skills you might think about hiring a driver.

Yes absolutely everything is expensive at West Bay but it is a unique experience. So is West End Village. Because of transportation costs Roatan is not a cheap cruise stop. When our kids were in that age category we made a point of eating a big breakfast before leaving the ship. In Roatan we always hire one of Victor Bodden’s drivers so there are no transportation surprises, cost or otherwise. For us, even now that it’s just us, it’s all about staying within our budget for the specific port.
