welp

this was my first cruise. got on board with no lines at all. i have to admit...........i was sick my entire trip with a stomach virus so my best friends were the doctor and nurse on the ship.

i had a very expensive bill at the end of my cruise but thank goodness i bought the cruise insurance......because everything is going to be covered. my medical bill was $909 .............. not a typo.........it was $909

first they thought i was seasick so the first night on the cruise they gave me a seasickness injection and some oral pills to take. it knocked me out and i felt a little better saturday morning so i boarded the little boat and went to cococay.........i spent the entire time on a chair in the shade. then i started feeling ill again and my mom went back to the ship and we went straight back to the first aid medical room.

they ended up giving me an iv of fluid..........2 injections of medication in my iv.............when that iv was over they gave me another iv and filled it with antibiotics. they were wonderful.

my cabin steward was awesome.....he would come to my room a couple times a day to see if there was anything i needed.......he was awesome.

i never made it to the dining room for dinners but our waiter DEDE from Turkey i heard was totally awesome.

I did make it my last night to the comedy show and he was funny and i made it to the casino for about 10 minutes.

my sister and 3 cousins were in a quad......... they do not recommend being put in a quad...........it was very very crowded and the inside cabin they said was very claustrophobic.

my mom on the other hand was on the other side of the hall in a triple and her cabin steward was horrible. their safe was broken in their room, their phone was broken in their room.........their cabin smelled like urine and the hallway outside their cabin had a horrible smell of poop. they asked their steward for extra towels for their cabin and her answer was......why do you want extra towels for? you don't need them. they ended up giving my mom and her 2 cabin mates a $50 credit each.

Wow. I am so sorry you were sick on your cruise. But I have to say, the bill actually doesn't sound out of line. A few years ago, I was visiting my in-laws in FL and also came down with a stomach virus. I was so ill, my fil took me to the urgent care facility in del ray beach. I was there for several hours and recieved similar treatment to yours. We didn't have health insurance at the time and my bill was over $1500! It's good you purchased insurance and will get reimbursed.

I can't believe your mom had such a terrible room steward. At least RC gave her and her roomies something for the shabby service.

I hope your next cruise is much more fun and enjoyable.

I was on The Majesty last week 12/12-12/16 and we had urine and poop smells outside our cabin too. Thank goodness it wasn't IN the cabin!

We were on deck 6. What deck were you on?

My heart goes out to all those stranded on the Majesty right now until they get this plane crash cleaned up. What a tragedy.

In December 2003 we were on the Majesty and had a cabin on Deck 6 and we also smell urine in the hallway. Luckily we couldn't smell it in out cabin either. We're planning a cruise on the Majesty next December and hopefully they have that problem cleared up by then.

We were on the Majesty 12/9-12/12. The captain was Ron Holmes from Canada. We expected to have the sewer smell because we had read about it here but never had it the entire weekend. We were in an inside cabin on deck 3, 3591 I think.

oh but i was able to meet a wonderful lady PATTY from PA from this board while on the ship. i hope you had a great time patty.

Oh my! Sorry you were sick for your trip. I had a good time, but it could have been better Lisa. Our room was wonderful. I have posted my notes on it on a different caption above so won't repeat it here.

It's unfortunate that this happened to you. I was looking forward to your posting, but didn't expect this.

As for the captain on this cruise, I NEVER SAW THE CAPTAIN....could not tell you who he was either.

This will be my last cruise on MOS. I really feel that the service is substandard even though it is only a 3-day cruise. I also feel that their promotions for excursions and shopping bonus program leave a lot to be desired.

patty did you post your review? i thought the ship was a bit dirty. everywhere i looked in the hallways were trays with food sitting outside cabins that needed to be picked up. there were dirty glasses left all over the ship

We were on the same cruise (12/16-19) right down the hall in cabins 6554 & 6556. Thankfully, no foul smells and a wonderful steward and waiter. Yes, we saw trays in the hall, but we also noticed crewmembers cleaning the public areas constantly.

I cut my finger open the last night and had to see the nurse after hours. She put epinephrine on it to stop the bleeding, plus a bandage The charge was $78, but I was happy to pay because it was too severe to treat myself.

Here's the bad news, though. The day after I got home I came down with a full-blown case of flu, which I obvously picked up on the ship. Don't want to think about how.

BTW, Larasmom, I think I recognize your family from the hallway and from baggage claim. Hope you're feeling better!

In regards to the trays in the hallways, that didn't bother me too much. That is even the norm in some hotels I've gone to. All in all, I was very pleased with our floor and our room was super great. The one entire wall was all mirrors, we had a safe, a small fridge, hairdryer, and the bathroom was a little, but not much, more spacious.

I thought the food was too warm every time we ate. I know this can't be avoided on buffet lines, but it was a little bit annoying at best.

Did you see that seaplane take off on Friday before we left (about 2:00 p.m.)? We watched it take off once and about an hour later, my husband saw one taking off, but first playing "chicken" with a security boat in the channel, getting airborn at the last minute. With what has transpired, it gives me the shivers. Doesn't say too much for the pilot, does it? By the way, the pilot graduated from high school about a half hour away from here...a ritzy private school in our area.

What a horrible way to go! I imagine relatives were watching the whole thing. How depressing.

Hope you are feeling better. I have blisters on the soles of my feet. I can hardly walk! Don't know where they came from, but it doesn't seem to be getting better. Oh well..OLD AGE I guess!

Merry Christmas

Which stateroom did you have? We are booked into a JS for our MOS cruise Jan 2 and haven't been able to find any photos.

I'm amazed the food was too hot off the buffet--I always get food that is cold.

You might want to check with a doc re: blisters on your feet. You may have picked up a fungus somewhere along the way. Hope you feel better soon.

Sorry to hear you got sick!! You didnt feel sick until after you were on cruise? Did they figure out what kind of stomach illness it was? Flu? Soemthing else?

When DH and I cruised once, we got the most TERRIBLE upper respiratory infections while on board. We stayed in our rooms 2 full days resting and taking meds. Not fun. After that I became obsessed with hand sanitizer... I never go anywhere without it.

Hope you are feeling better!

I came down with an upper respiratory flu, with chills, fever, headache, etc. the day after we got home and it's still lingering 4 days later. My husband is feeling symptoms tonight, so apparently, it's the gift that keeps on giving...
