Parking at Maho Beach

I've never been to St Maarten - we'll be there for 1 day on our cruise in a week. We're thinking of renting a car and exploring the island on our own. One of the things we'd really like to see are the planes landing and taking off from Maho Beach. Does anyone know if we can park a car easily around Maho Beach?

Also, if anyone has any suggestions - a"MUST DO" if you're on St Maarten for 1 day - please feel free to share.

There is a parking lot outside the Sunset Bar and Grill that our tour guide parked in. I can't recall the rates, but pretty sure he had to pay. Whether or not it is typically full or not, I don't know.

We parked in the lot next to sunset bar for free this week. Drive around the whole island including the french side, it is basically hard to get lost on the island. There is one road that cuts straight up through the island and the main road makes a circle around it. Lots of traffic so plan accordingly.

I was going to add that I heard the casino hadn't reopened yet, at least the last I heard, so I thought there might be more room than previous years. Thanks for reporting.

I was just looking up this info (We will be there with the Jewel of the Seas next week) and found a press release stating that the Maho Beach Parking lot just closed for construction and is not expected to reopen until April.

it was open on Feb 15rh, that’s where I parked.
