Transport within Southampton Dockyard??

I recall arriving in Southampton for the very first time on P&O Oriana from a World Cruise with lots of baggage and encountering a rather surly English taxi driver who was not pleased when he realised that his fare merely wanted transport from Mayflower to the nearby Holiday Inn. This year we will overnighting 3 times at the same Holiday Inn for back to back cruises on the three Cunard Queens. Just had a thought to look at the departure wharves and lo and behold, we get to savour all three of Ocean, Mayflower and Queen Elizabeth 2. Two of these are a mile from the hotel and the third is a little less. Apart from using

"Shanks Pony" - which we used last time when we were in Southampton a few years later - is there any alternative to dragging luggage around the dockyard??

Last year we stayed in the Holiday Inn overnight and departed from the Ocean Terminal. The hotel booked a taxi for us and the taxi driver was fine. They must do these short journeys all day long. Plus, if the hotel books it for you, the driver can hardly get a monk on about it.

 

But, if you don't walk, and you don't take a taxi, what other alternative are you thinking off ? Teleportation ?
