Best Princess Mexico excursions

What are your favorite Princess excursions in Puerto Vallarta, Cabo and Mazatlan -- and why? Are there any you would particularly recommend against?

We were on the Sapphire Princess 12/17-12/24. In Puerto Vallarta we did the Beach Break. Inexpensive ($39) and it was a nice day. A short bus ride to Paradise Village where you have full use of their private beach and pools. And you get a nice, buffet style lunch. We enjoyed this excursion.

In Mazatlan we spent the day with Mazatlan Frank. (Not a Princess sponsored excursion). Frank's a fantastic tour guide and you'll see many things in your day with Frank. Highly recommended.

In Cabo we walked in to town and did a bit of shopping, also enjoyed a margarite at Cabo Wabo.

we did a Princess snorkeling excursion in Puerto Vallarta. From my research, the snorkel excursion are almost all (if not all) run through a company called Vallarta Adventures. The Princess pricing was at that time identical to booking independently, plus they were all booked up for the day our ship was in port, so we went through Princess.

This was one of our most memorable excursions, ever. The tour company is fabulous, putting on a song/dance/comedy skit our entire trip out to the snorkel spot. They were the most helpful mates as well as being the most entertaining, too!

DH and I did The Sierra Madre Tour in Mazatlan through Princess on the Ocean in 2001 and LOVED it.

We felt this was the best way to see the foothills of the Sierra Madre.

We stopped at a "brick factory" - basically one man making bricks in the sun (fascinating) we stopped at a "furniture factory" and were amazed as we watched the locals hand carve furniture. We bought a couple of wood carvings for $5 each (almost free). We also visited the lovely town Concordia where we had a beverage stop.

The highlight was our stop the hillside town of Copala where we had a delicious lunch at Chalva's (traditional Mexican food and a wonderful dessert of banana coconut creme pie).

The tour ended at the Golden Zone for shopping but if memory serves you could return straight to the ship.

We talk about this tour to this day and felt it was one of the best tours we've ever taken anywhere.

Ask away if you have questions and check my photo link for some pictures.

We enjoyed Hideaway at Las Caletas in Puerto Vallarta enough to go twice during two separate cruises. It was a little pricey ($80 pp), but we felt it was well worth it. Las Caletas is a secluded beach, accessible only by boat and all inclusive. The hosts were very personable, the transfer boat was clean and ship shape and everything at the beach was in good repair. We enjoyed the food and all the activities we participated in.
