Where is the better of the 2 ports to do a helicopter excursion ride?

Equally excellent. :) Glaciers are in a constant stat of change, so there isn't any "better". I suggest booking your flight where it fits your overall touring schedule best. IF a "must do" priority, then consider booking it at your first opportunity, port. Have phone numbers so to immediately try and find another tour opening- if you happen to be canceled.

One thing about the helo rides is that they are short which leaves more time to see/do other things and if canceled easier to find other things to do. I really like the helo rides. Nothing else like them. I would book both then if one gets canceled you got to do one. If both get canceled you gave your best shot. If both go you have two helo rides, better chance to have good seats, see/ walk on blue ice, and the downside is budget is shot and skip the casino or spa for a few days.
