Port Canaveral Wine

Hello all - I heard today that at Port Canaveral all bottles of wine - even corked and sealed - are opened for inspection. Does anyone know if that is true? Not sneaking on liquor - there are seven of us, and we are all bringing on Moscato. Once opened - it goes flat, and we hoping to have enough to have one bottle every day........Opening one bottle would not be a big deal - we could drink it that day, but the rest would be undrinkable.

Any help?? Anyone been thru Canaveral the last few weeks??

Thanks!

SOMETIMES

they check to ensure it has NOT been opened

to ensure the wine was not replaced with 'spirits'

*************

technical detail

the folks doing the screening at arrival are not the port's. the cruise line is responsible for contracting sufficient security to meet port (USCG and ICE) requirements. the cruise line is responsible for what the 'limits' of inspection are. ... so long as minimums are met.

For example, recently a very 'special' charter cruise departed fro PC and at boarding there was a HEAVY security presence and an unusually large number of folks were arrested during boarding having been found to be carrying. All the extra security was requested by and paid for by the cruise line .... the port assisted in the process but was not the driver .....
