Mossiemo Posted May 18, 2018 #1 Share Posted May 18, 2018 I am hoping someone can help me, I am trying to hire an able assist transfer aid in Barcelona to use on an upcoming cruise but all the companies I have tried only offer a hoist which is not suitable for my brothers needs. At home he uses a Sara stedy and if he could hire something similar it would make his holiday much easier. He is a full time wheelchair user and he has an accessible cabin. I contacted RC and they put me in touch with mobility at sea. They have the device he needs but can only offer it from Southampton sailings :(:( If anyone has any ideas that could help me I would love to hear from you. LondonTowner Posted May 19, 2018 #2 Share Posted May 19, 2018 Have you looked on SageTraveling? Or maybe google mobility scooter hire in the holiday resort areas not far from Barcelona. Places like Lloret de Mar, Salou etc. Sent from my iPad using Forums

A place to start might be Cosmo Scooters in Barcelona. cosmoscooter.com They rent scooters but they may have some leads to other companies that rent equipment. And this is another equipment rental place: https://www.mobilityequipmenthiredirect.com/mobility-equipment-hire/c425-mobility-scooter-hire-in-barcelona-spain/ Another place to inquire is http://barcelona-access.com/ And https://www.accessiblespaintravel.com/mobility-equipment-rental-in-spain/ If you need accessible transportation, see here: http://www.transporteadaptado.es/eng/ I have no personal experience with any of these companies; however, they may be able to assist you or direct you to who can. LondonTowner Posted May 20, 2018 #5 Share Posted May 20, 2018 Have you tried contacting the Barcelona Tourist Board. I contacted them last time I went to Barcelona and they were very helpful. Or Spanish Red Cross - La Cruz Roja. Sent from my iPad using Forums

LondonTowner Posted May 21, 2018 #7 Share Posted May 21, 2018 Mossiemo Hopefully, you will get something sorted out. Barcelona is one of Europe's most disabled friendly cities, so they should be able to supply you with what you need. I don't know what a Sara Stedy is? I presume it is something that is more sturdy than a hoist? Sent from my iPad using Forums
LondonTowner Posted May 21, 2018 #8 Share Posted May 21, 2018 Have you tried asking on the Barcelona Forum on Tripadvisor? There are a couple of very knowledgeable locals on there. One of them, Enric also contributes on Cruise Critic, so could be worth asking on here in the Spain Forum too.
