need2cruisesoon Posted June 16, 2018 #1 Share Posted June 16, 2018 We are planning a cruise that stops there next year, what has your experience been with overcrowding? https://www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/cruises/news/has-dubrovnik-solved-over-crowding-from-cruise-lines/
marco Posted June 16, 2018 #2 Share Posted June 16, 2018 We were just there a couple of weeks ago and the Oosterdam and an MSC ship were in port. There were a good number of tourists, but certainly wasn't wall to wall people. We were not on one of those ships and we were there for 2 days, I really didn't notice that much of a difference in the crowd size whilst there when no cruise ship was in port, other than the area where all of the buses and coaches wait for pax. It wasn't exactly empty, butl in the evening when there were no cruise ship pax, it was delightful. When are you going? Our guide told us it is a LOT more crowed in the July/August with European vacationers (not cruise ship pax) as Croatia is still comparatively less expensive and many Europeans vacation there. Dubrovniktravelady Posted June 17, 2018 #3 Share Posted June 17, 2018 Our new mayor has been working diligently with CLIA to stagger cruise ship arrivals. Most of the cruise lines seem to end up here during the weekend. Positioning arrivals would begin to help, but warning again. Do not come during high season, July & August. ukdeblarz Posted June 17, 2018 #4 Share Posted June 17, 2018 Just got back last week. One of my favorite ports. Did not feel overcrowded. Wish I had extra time there as the shopping looked great. Lovely people too!
