door60 Posted July 4, 2018 #1 Share Posted July 4, 2018 So, everyone is saying the weather in Alaska fluctuates a great deal in a given day. How hot does it typically get in the summer?
mapleleaves Posted July 4, 2018 #2 Share Posted July 4, 2018 Alaska is a big state. On the same day it could be 85 and sunny in Fairbanks and 50 with heavy rain in Ketchikan. You can look up historical data is sights like www.wunderground.com. Just enter the town, date of travel and look at the past 4 or 5 yrs on that date. Takes about 5 minutes. mapleleaves Posted July 4, 2018 #3 Share Posted July 4, 2018 Also important to note that the weather can change drastically within the same day, which is why wearing LAYERS is important. Your day in Juneau may start off warm but by mid afternoon it's cold and raining. It's a good idea to carry a small day pack so you have a place to store the layers when you don't need them. Look at past trip reports and notice what people are wearing the background. Usually jeans and a fleece or jacket. https://www.wunderground.com/history/monthly/PAKT/date/2017-6碂?req_city=Ketchikan&req_state=AK&req_statename=Alaska&reqdb.zip=99901&reqdb.magic=1&reqdb.wmo=99999
